Dragon Battles Anyone? Book Review of Brisingr By Christopher Paolini

Brisingr, the third installment of Christopher Paolini's inheritance cycle, admittedly may not be for everyone. The reader must have a certain, how can i say this, nerd quality that allows them to immerse themselves into a different world filled with intelligent dragons, realistic magic, and fierce rebellion. I, personally, deeply enjoy this series especially its most recent installment. The story picks up with Eragon, the dragon rider and shade slayer, during a daring attempt to save his cousin's wife-to-be from a huge dark fortress in a city with the foreboding name of Helgrind. It starts off with a ton of action and really doesn't let up throughout the entire novel. It is filled with guerilla warfare, political struggles, and of course love interests. The story truly catches its stride when an assassination attempt is made on Eragon, thus causing a great deal of political turmoil and harsh vengeance. It is not however a generic and simplistic fantasy novel. Eragon struggles with the usual right versus wrong but also with a deeper struggle between how he fits in with his newfound power and responsibility. The story is told between two perspectives, Eragon’s and his cousin’s Roran. This adds a twist to the plot and changes between pure fantasy in Eragon’s case to nearly realism through Roran’s eyes. I strongly suggest that if you are willing to read a pretty heavily fantasy laden novel than this is for sure a book that you would enjoy. However if you’re not a big fan of the fantasy genre I would suggest a different book.

This sounds like a good book to read. I have read the last two and from what you posted it sounds like this book is better then the last one. I hope it has a lot of action.
